Building Project 7

East Dean Refurbishment

This substantial 18th century Grade II listed home in East Dean, has just undergone a refurbishment. Which involved the removal of the existing integral double garage along with the suspended reinforced concrete floor slab and the oil tanks that were stored in the cellar.

James Pearce of local architects CKA of Eastbourne who combined the very best of traditional materials with the clients desire for light, space and open-plan living. The newly created space was then enriched with modern services to complement the showpiece kitchen by Design Space London.

Working closely with Wealden District Councilís conservation team, method statements detailing how the demolition work was going to be undertaken without damaging the fragile fabric of the building, sample panels for the flint work, detailed drawings for the external sliding sash windows and existing mortar analysis were provided for approval.

Once this phase of the project has been completed, the construction of a new flint-clad double garage, with landscaping works will be undertaken for this local thespian.
