Formed by Anthony John Hammond in 1976, AJ Hammond Builders Ltd is a small family-run construction company based in Bexhill-On-Sea. Over the past 45 years, AJ Hammond Builders have become one of the most highly respected and experienced construction companies in the whole of East Sussex.
Anthony’s son, Neil Hammond, left school at age 16 to follow in his father’s footsteps. Neil joined the family building venture and eventually took ownership of the business in 1996. Neil has been running the business ever since and oversees a team of local building talent, transforming homes all across East Sussex.
Another generation later, Neil’s two sons Sam and Harry Hammond are now also following in their father and grandfather’s footsteps, keeping the original family ethos very much alive.

Neil and the team did an amazing job of a two storey extension on our family home. Over 25 million tonnes of construction waste is disposed to landfill with a massive 400 million tonnes of materials being used each year across the UK. That’s a huge environmental impact.
At AJ Hammond builders, we take our environmental procedures very seriously. Not only do we minimise costs by reducing, reusing and recycling, we also have measures designed to reduce our environmental footprint.
For example, we always aim to reduce and reuse as much of our resources and waste as possible. We recycle a high proportion of our hardcore, where it gets crushed and then reused. We reduce our haulage by tipping excavated materials at the nearest licensed waste transfer station to the project that we are working on.
Furthermore, we use local suppliers to support local East Sussex builders merchants and only source accredited timber from approved suppliers.
